Oahu Boat Diving Locations
The YO257
About a mile off shore with Diamond Head crater in the background rests the wreck of the YO257. This old World War II Navy ship is one of the island's most popular dive sites. She is resting upright at about 95ft. Holes have been cut through-out the ship making easy access to some of the interior cabins.
Built in the 1940s, YO-257 saw action in World War II, the Korean War, and in the Vietnam War.From 16 September to 12 November 1963 the ship was temporarily loaned to the Coast Guard to assist in the construction of a LORAN radio navigation station in Yap, Western Carolines, carrying water-based asphalt to be used for a runway for aircraft servicing the station.
The San Pedro
This old Korean fishing vessel lies about 50 yards from the YO257. In the forward hold it’s not unusual to find White Tip Sharks and Hawaiian Sea Turtles on the bow. Keep an eye out for the mini subs that frequently tour the wreck. It makes for a very Cool dive.
The Sea Tiger (Video)
Made famous by the book “The Hunt for the Sea Tiger” by Captain Mac, she is one of Hawaii’s newest wrecks. This 168ft Chinese merchant ship is fast becoming home to hundreds of colorful reef fish, eels and sea turtles.
Rainbow Reef
Located just south of Waikiki Beach, this beautiful coral reef is home to hundreds of Tropical reef fish as well as several large sea turtles.
Ewa Pinnacles
Two large lava formations rising up from the ocean floor. One of the only boats to dive this site, so you never know what you will find, Sharks, eels, turtles there is something for everyone.
Moe's Reef
A Capt'n Mac's original, this reef is loaded with turtles. We are the only boat to dive on this reef. It's not unusual to see at least 15 turtles on top the reef. The turtles come to clean their shells with the help of the reef fish.
